Aquila Autoharp

This 'harp is 2 inches longer and 5/8 inch deeper than our standard size autoharps. The width is the same. It is very loud, and very resonant.

The scale length, which is the length of the strings between the bridges, is the same as our TLC and Desert Rose.
The anchor end bridge is 2" out on the top, instead of being butted up to where the frame is. This allows the energy of the strings to transfer more directly to the top, which is the main resonator, or "speaker" for the instrument. Also, the extra two inches increases the size of the sound chamber.
The body of the Aquila is about 5/8" deeper, which increases the size of the sound chamber by quite a bit.
The result is a highly resonant and loud autoharp. The sound is quite different, not just louder.

You can jam with any number and type of acoustic instruments in much greater comfort, without having to strain to be heard. You will be able to blend in as well as take a lead with a much increased dynamic range.

We build autoharps with a number of standard tonewoods such as spruce and cedar tops, figured maple, walnut and cherry backs.  Sides and trim hardwoods may be mixed and matched in a variety of ways.
Other woods such as Hawaiian koa and African padouk etc. are used on request when available, often at an additional price.  We do not use sensitive rain forest woods harvested under poor ecological practices.
