Aside from slightly more sleek lines, What makes the Ultralite different is on the inside.
The frame of this autoharp resembles a truss, and all mass within the frame which is not needed directly for structural integrity has been removed.

The result is less mass, and a slightly larger sound chamber. Less mass means that the exchange of energy produced by the strings is less impeded by the frame. The frame contributes less to the sound than the top and back, but must be very strong to withstand the pull of about 1,500 pounds or more from the tension of the strings.

Of course the other advantage is weight. Our autoharps are already lighter in weight than most, and we shed over a pound from the weight of a standard Cascade.

The differences are subtle, but very noticeable, in weight and in sound.
